KitchenAid Professional 600 Review

It is time for a kitchen product review! Thank you so much for joining me today. Today is a review of the 6 quart KitchenAid Professional 600 stand mixer. It is a beast of a mixer but so easy to use!

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted an empire red KitchenAid stand mixer. It is one of those things that once you have it in your kitchen, you’ve made it. I cannot fully explain it, but the retro look of the mixer, the classic design, and the beautiful red color is just so appealing.

I spent months conducting research and watching reviews of many different brands and models of mixers. After I bought the Cuisinart mixer (review coming soon!) I did more research specifically on KitchenAid models. I eventually decided on the Professional 600 model.

This model is a bowl-lift mixer, rather than a tilt head. It has a large capacity so you can easily triple batches without fear of overfilling the mixer or burning out the motor. It has 575 watts of power and contains an AC motor. It truly is a beast!

I have made several things in this beautiful mixer. Banana bread, carrot cake cupcakes, mashed potatoes, bread, pavlova, whipped cream, and pretzel buns (pretzel buns for Steven 🙂 ). The 10 speed settings allow for great versatility!

I did buy this appliance as refurbished, so it is not a brand new unit. However, it works great! It is able to easily power through whatever I have thrown at it and still looks beautiful! I purchased this at the height of the pandemic when Kitchenaid mixers were IMPOSSIBLE to get, so I was thankful to be able to get a refurbished model. It was significantly cheaper than a brand new model, but still the same high quality you would expect from Kitchenaid. With it being refurbished it did not come with a pouring shield. After months of use I decided to purchase a pouring shield to make it easier to add ingredients. It was well worth the money!

While this model is very powerful and is a beast, it is quite loud. Compared to the Artisan series or the Pro Line series, it is much louder. I have seen both of these models in action and they are whisper quiet. So if having a quiet unit is important for you, it might be better to go with one of the other options I listed above.

Another thing is the Professional 600 is a very tall unit. It will not slide under most kitchen cupboards because it is so tall. Thankfully the cabinets in my apartment are quite high so I do not have to worry about it. But if yours are lower you will either have to tilt it under the cabinets to slide it under or find an area in your kitchen that does not have upper cabinets to display it.

Honestly those are really the only “issues” I have with this Kitchenaid. I am just so happy to have one because it is so pretty and does a great job. I am also really happy to have this because of all the attachments that can be added to the powerhub in the front. I currently have the vegetable sheet cutter and spiralizer attachments. Love them both! I am hoping to gain some other attachments in the near future 🙂 While the added attachments are expensive (sometimes $100-$200!!) they work well and are very sturdy. More reviews coming soon on the attachments.

This Kitchenaid has become one of the main features of the kitchen (along with the Vitamix!). The red color has become inspiration for the rest of the kitchen, which created a nice red, black, and grey color scheme. There are red towels, red dish drying mat, black appliances, red Lodge Dutch Oven, etc. It has helped tie everything together aesthetically, which makes it look so nice in the kitchen and makes me want to be there.

Can you tell I love this Kitchenaid?? If you are considering buying a Kitchenaid mixer, I highly recommend this one if you want to have the power, make bigger batches, make bread, and know it will last under the larger heavier batches. There are plenty of color options, so I am sure you will find one that fits perfectly in your kitchen 🙂

I look forward to all the yummy things that will be made using this mixer in the future, and I will be sure to share what I make 🙂
